Emma with Liberal Democrat Mayoral
Candidate Rod Cantrill
Emma Bates’ involvement in politics took off during the EU referendum in 2016, where she helped lead the Cambridge group for Britain Stronger in Europe. While the result was a disappointment, the process of campaigning opened Emma’s eyes to a host of issues that could be solved at a local, not international level. She is standing for the county council in order to help address these issues and make a real difference in her local area.
Emma works for a dementia research charity, where she regularly sees the toll that cuts to social care have had on people’s lives across the county.
Emma has lived in Petersfield for nearly two years. She loves the distinctiveness and variety of local shops, cafés and pubs. In her free time, she enjoys reading, walking and relaxing in the local area.
