Liz Leffman and Rod Cantrill address Cambs Conference

Witney councilor and by-election candidate Liz Leffman and Rod Cantrill, Lib Dem candidate to be the first mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, addressed a packed hall in Histon on Saturday for the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Lib Dems annual conference.

Kicking things off, Rod spoke passionately of his aspirations for the county and of how the democratically elected mayor can have a genuine impact on people’s lives and the environment. Rod set out his vision of the mayoralty spreading the success and affluence enjoyed in parts of the county more widely and of how powers can be returned to individuals and communities.

Liz Leffman then took over to describe the Lib Dem fightback on the ground in her Witney constituency. Liz came a strong second in the recent Witney by-election, a result which added to the massive effort which followed in Richmond Park, where Sarah Olney MP was victorious. Liz’s passion and commitment as a campaigner was hugely appreciated by the attentive audience.

Thanks to Liz for her time and passion and we look forward to campaigning with you again soon.
