Welcome to the Papworth and Swavesey county division page covering Boxworth, Caxton, Conington, Childerley, Croxton, Elsworth, Eltisley, Fen Drayton, Graveley, Knapwell, Papworth Everard, Papworth St Agnes and Swavesey parishes.
Local Lib Dem campaigner
Local resident and Lib Dem activist Peter Sandford will be standing in next Thursday’s county council elections to represent Papworth and Swavesey division.
Peter has lived in Papworth Everard since 2003. He recently retired from a multi-national engineering company based in Cambridge, and his wife worked for Royal Papworth Hospital until she retired. They have two grown-up children, who attended Hills Road Sixth Form College, Swavesey Village College and Pendragon Primary School. Peter has made friends with many of the village's Pandemic Puppies during lockdown walks!
The Lib Dem plan for our area
1. Sustainable transport
East West Rail will pass close to, or possibly through, this division. It's essential that our residents can make use of the proposed new station at Cambourne without having to drive to it. This means more cycle and foot paths in strategic locations. Four years ago, the Tories promised a cycle/foot path from Papworth to Caxton Gibbet… we are still waiting for it.
2. Fixing things that should be repaired as routine
Filling potholes (especially on the main roads), cleaning drains and emptying gullies before they flood. Leaving these problems unfixed just makes them harder and more expensive to address in the future.
3. Ensure new housing brings with it additional facilities for residents
Let's make sure the developer levy on newbuilds is spent for the benefit of all.
