New selective church school in Soham threatens Village College

The Conservative government is planning to open a selective church school in Soham - whether Soham and Cambridgeshire want it or not!

If the school gets built, hundreds of secondary school pupils will be bussed into and out of Soham every day, from Ely and villages such as Histon and Cottenham. Some Soham pupils would also attend the school.

It will also mean that Soham Village College will lose out on hundreds of thousands of pounds of funding every year, for repairing and improving its buildings, and of course teaching.

The Lib Dems are campaigning against the plan, to protect the Village College from this loss of crucial funding.
